PA Program Spotlight: University of Findlay
Newsletter Article - May 2022
The University of Findlay PA program was founded by a family practice physician named Dr. Paul Davis with the first group of students starting during the 1997-1998 academic year. Since then, the program has continued to grow and, within the last year, has sent 17 graduated students into practice, 19 students out for clinical rotations, has 19 students in their didactic year, and is preparing to bring in 24 new students. Findlay’s recent graduates have gone into a variety of fields including, but not limited to, cardiology, urgent care, emergency medicine, orthopedics, and trauma.
The clinical year students are currently in their 4th rotation and have had a wonderful experience in seeing patients, working with preceptors, and participating in various procedures thus far. The didactic year students have managed to stay active in their community. Over the past two semesters they have participated in many volunteering opportunities including work with United Way in the World of Downtown Restaurant Tour, the local Habitat for Humanity, as well as helping with many other city activities. The students will also be assisting the pharmacy department at Findlay and their students in providing basic health screenings to underserved community members. Additionally, they have been preparing for PA Olympics on June 4th. This fall, the UF PA program will host their 2nd annual CME-style student research presentations, as well as the annual Arch Ceremony and White Coat Ceremony for graduating students.
