Seeking PA students to author educational spotlights

Dear Ohio PA Students,

The OAPA Student Affairs and Diversity Committees are collaborating on an educational and community engagement project this spring.

This initiative aims to celebrate diversity in healthcare through educational spotlights and participation in the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio's Community Festival and Walk (learn more about that here).

For the educational initiative, we are seeking PA students to author spotlights, with select articles published in the OAPA newsletter and other communications channels.

This is an excellent opportunity to share research, service experiences, and insights regarding underserved populations with the broader OAPA membership.

Examples of spotlights could be on homelessness and blood pressure, or diabetes management in specific populations. See below for other examples of previously published works:

Please submit spotlight articles by April 17, 2026, following these guidelines:

  • Google Docs or Microsoft Word format
  • May be of any length (500-1000 words recommended)
  • Text-only, unless charts/graphs for data presentation, photos showing a service project, etc. (fancy fonts, graphics, and layouts will not be published)
  • Articles referencing other works should include citations
  • Authors should provide:
    • Name as they wish it to appear, including any credentials, pronouns, etc. desired
    • Affiliation (school and/or employer)
    • A one or two sentence bio
    • Headshot or photograph
  • Submit to oapa@ohiopa.com and CC mansellatc@gmail.com with subject line "Diversity Spotlight Article Submission"

Thank you for considering particiation in this celebration of diversity in healthcare and serving underserved populations in Ohio.

Best regards,

OAPA Diversity and Student Affairs Committees
