OAPA Receives AAPA Advocacy Grant Funding for an Impactful 2025 Legislative Year
The Ohio Association of Physician Assistants (OAPA) is excited to share that we are the recipients of an AAPA Advocacy Grant!
The American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) Board of Directors makes funding available to AAPA constituent organizations (COs) pursuing advocacy initiatives that will improve the PA practice environment in the states, District of Columbia, and US territories.
In October, OAPA submitted a grant proposal requesting financial support for an impactful, game-changing legislative year in 2025. OAPA seeks not only to advance the interests of PAs in our state but also to serve as a model and catalyst for other AAPA constituent organizations to enhance their advocacy efforts and advance the PA profession nationwide.
Grant funding will be leveraged to support OAPA's legislative advocacy efforts in 2025. In addition to the financial support, AAPA staff will provide strategic advocacy and communications assistance to strengthen OAPA's effort to enact impactful legislative changes.
The good news of the AAPA grant approval came quickly on the heels of OAPA's selection of Hicks Partners, a multidisciplinary organization with expertise in government affairs, public relations, and more, to serve as OAPA’s new lobbyist effective January 1, 2025. These two developments, in combination, have built strong momentum, positioning OAPA for success as we advocate on behalf of Ohio PAs, educators, and students with the new Ohio General Assembly commencing in January.
OAPA members, and all Ohio PAs, are encouraged to stay informed about legislative matters impacting PAs by monitoring the OAPA website.
And, if you have strong expertise in one or more specialty areas of PA practice, please raise your hand to serve as one of OAPA's Go-To Experts so that we can turn to you when pertinent legislation comes along and we need member feedback and stories to share with legislators.
