APPLY NOW: 2024 OAPA Student Scholarships
Ohio PA students are invited to APPLY NOW for our 2024 OAPA Student Scholarships!
Recognition is available in three categories: Past Presidents Leadership Scholarship, Diversity Scholarship, and General Scholarship. Applicant Eligibility:
- Shall be a current student attending an accredited Ohio PA program at the time of nomination and when the scholarship is awarded
- Shall be a member of both OAPA and AAPA at the time of nomination
- Must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better at the time of the nomination
Application Process:
- The student must complete the application(s) linked below.
- The student must provide the link to the attestation(s) below to their PA Program Director for completion.
- Applications AND attestations are due by August 19, 2024. It is the student's responsibility to follow up with their Program Director to ensure that the attestation(s) are completed by the deadline.
- Materials will be reviewed and recipients selected by a subcommittee or other body composed of members as indicated in the description of each scholarship.
PAST PRESIDENTS LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000)
This scholarship is presented by the Past Presidents Council, comprised of three past presidents of OAPA appointed by the immediate past president, who is the chair. Scholarship applicants must possess the characteristics of what the Council envisions in a future leader within the profession. They will have vision and a high degree of faith and confidence in themselves to attain these visions. They are self-motivated and able to communicate to their peers their expectations. Presuming there is a sufficient number of qualified applicants, one scholarship is awarded annually.

DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP ($750)
Given annually in effort to recognize an outstanding PA student in Ohio who embodies the principles of diversity and promotes values of sustaining a diverse workforce, this scholarship is presented by the Diversity Committee in collaboration with the Awards and Scholarships Committee. This scholarship responds to the need for diversity in healthcare, which is becoming increasingly recognized as an essential component of delivering quality, patient-centered care. A personalized approach to patient care encounters can significantly improve health outcomes aided by recognizing the diverse qualities of medical providers and the individuals they care for. Presuming there is a sufficient number of qualified applicants, one scholarship is awarded annually.

One letter of recommendation from an academic advisor or professional reference (student to ask for this letter to be written and then sent to oapa@ohiopa.com by the author)
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS ($750)
Given annually to PA students that possess the characteristics of a future leader within the profession, this scholarship is presented by two volunteers solicited from the general membership and one member of the Student Affairs Committee. Applicants will describe why they chose the PA profession, what their future plans are as a PA, and what interests and activities they have outside the classroom. Presuming there is a sufficient number of qualified applicants, up to three scholarships are awarded annually.
