Learning Objectives:

  • Scrutinize medical dietary and weight loss recommendations, acknowledging their potential to reinforce disordered eating habits and eating disorders
  • Explore the pervasive impact of diet culture in medicine on the development and perpetuation of disordered eating
  • Recognize food as essential nutrition for health, while discerning the dangers of equating food solely with medicine, particularly in relation to disordered eating
  • Introduce Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating as evidence-based methods for supporting recovery and overall well-being amongst all individuals regardless of body type

Czajka Michael 899906Michael Czajka, MPAS, PA-C is a 2014 graduate of Chatham University’s PA program.  For the past eight years, he has been a part of Cleveland Clinic's Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry team, focusing on hospital-based consultation and education. Alongside his clinical role, he has mentored students from numerous programs, sharing insights, and fostering growth. He is adjunct faculty at Chatham University in Pittsburgh and lectures on psychiatry related topics at Baldwin Wallace University. His professional interests delve into disordered eating and weight-inclusive care, areas where he is committed to advancing treatment approaches, merging practical experience with education, contributing to a compassionate and effective approach to psychiatric care.
