Ear Today, Gone Tomorrow: A Guide to Ear Pathology and its Pharmacological Treatment

Learning Objectives:
- Identify the common types of ear pathology, and the clinical features (e.g., otitis media, otitis externa) that affect adults.
- Recognize differentiating factors between ear pathologies.
- Review the current evidence and guidelines for the pharmacological management of each ear pathology, including the indications, contraindications, dosages, side effects, and interactions of various drugs.
- Evaluate the outcomes and effectiveness of different pharmacological therapies for each ear pathology, and how to monitor and adjust the treatment plan based on the patient’s response and feedback.
Speaker Biography:
Rachel Fredericksen, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant at Cleveland Clinic. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University and has been working at Cleveland Clinic in General Otolaryngology for 3 years.
She sees a broad spectrum of ENT patients, from otitis externa to epistaxis. Rachel coordinates PA students for their Otolaryngology rotations. Most days she is in outpatient clinic preforming laryngoscopies, cleaning ears and at times doing in patient consults.
Rachel spends her free time listening to audiobooks and spending time with her family.
