The PA's Expanding Role in Cardiac Management
Presented by Dr. Jose Ortiz, MD, FACC, Former Cardiology Chief, Louis Stokes VA Medical Center
Learning Objectives:
- Familiarize with the new classification of Heart Failure (HF)
- Review the ACC/AHA/HFSA guidelines for HF including epidemiology, symptoms, and current management
- Discuss the latest device-related management of HF
- Identify what is in the horizon for patients with HF
Speaker Biography:
Dr. Jose Ortiz is a Cardiologist with more than 25 years of experience, having received his training in Cleveland, including General Cardiology, Electrophysiology Research, and Advanced Heart Failure. Currently he practices at the VA as a Cardiologist and was the Cardiology Section Chief for 15 years. He has received the Inpatient Teacher of the Year awards from the Internal Medicine and the Cardiology Fellowship programs, being inducted into the DOM-Hall of Fame and honored as a Master Clinical Educator. He loves to teach with examples and has become known for making complex concepts easily understandable. His work as a Section Chief also led him to receive the Wings of Excellence Award from the VA Federal Executive Board.
