Happy PA Week 2025! A message from OAPA...
Dear Ohio PA Community,
Happy PA Week! Each year from October 6–12, we take time to recognize and celebrate the more than 190,000 physician associates/assistants (PAs) who make an incredible difference in healthcare, especially the nearly 6,700 of you right here in Ohio and all of our future PAs attending Ohio's 17 PA programs!
Whether in hospitals, urgent care centers, primary care offices, or rural clinics, PAs are essential to keeping our communities healthy. We are highly trained, adaptable medical professionals practicing in every specialty and setting, dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
At some point, you have probably been faced with questions about the role of a PA. During PA Week, OAPA is excited to share some of the work we have been doing to advocate for you and for the residents of Ohio by bringing awareness to the profession and our important and evolving role in health care.
We recently collected testimony from PAs across the state to answer the question "What is a PA?" and are excited to premier this new video with you:

As you know, PAs have long played a vital role in increasing access to care, especially in underserved and rural areas, often serving as the first and most consistent point of care for patients who might otherwise face long wait times or limited access.
The public and our physician colleagues alike recognize the value we bring:

These numbers aren’t just statistics; they reflect the trust we’ve built and the lives we’ve touched.
