| | On March 19, OAPA hosted a members-only Legislative Town Hall featuring Josanne Pagel, OAPA Government Affairs Committee Chair. The event began with an introduction by President-Elect Nathan Hart, who welcomed attendees and provided a summary of Josanne’s 40+ year career as a PA, including her myriad leadership roles in OAPA and AAPA. Focusing on PA practice in Ohio, Ms. Pagel laid out the expanse of OAPA’s legislative agenda. |
| | State and specialty PA organizations bring different things to the table when working with state legislatures and medical boards to remove practice barriers. SEMPA, the Society of Emergency Medicine PAs, is increasing its advocacy efforts and is looking to partner with state PA organizations to advocate for the changes needed to permit all PAs to practice at the top of their training and ability. |

| | Is your practice interested in improving appropriate use of antibiotics in telemedicine? The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is currently recruiting practices for a no- cost, 18-month program beginning in June 2024 to promote appropriate antibiotic use while maintaining patient satisfaction and reducing potential side effects in patients seen via telemedicine. |
Top | | On Saturday, March 16th, on the campus of Ashland University, 9 Ohio PA programs participated in the return of the OAPA Challenge Bowl. Each school had the chance to participate in at least 4 rounds of competition, with additional rounds for semi-finals and finals rounds. Students also enjoyed lunch together and had the chance to meet and greet with their PA student colleagues from around the state. |

| | The University of Toledo became the first graduate-level PA program in Ohio in 1996 after accepting its first class of 12 students. In August of 2023, twenty-seven years later, the University of Toledo accepted their most recent class of 40 students who received their short white coats and began their didactic year. |
